Teaming up for better health: Norfolk NHS Health Checks joins forces with Norwich City FC
16 Oct 2025

A new one-year partnership between Reed Wellbeing and Norwich City's Community Sports Foundation will see free NHS Health Checks and Stop Smoking services delivered at the club’s Carrow Road ground through their Healthy Fans initiative.
As part of the new partnership, we will be present alongside Foundation staff at the Support Hub during of this season’s Carrow Road fixtures. The team will be offering advice, guidance, and sign posting for services such as the free NHS Health Checks for 40–74-year-olds and free support to quit smoking.
The Norfolk NHS Health Checks and Smokefree Norfolk services, both delivered by Reed Wellbeing and commissioned by Norfolk County Council, aim to improve public health across the county. The Norfolk NHS Health Checks programme offers free, health assessments for adults aged 40–74, helping to identify risks of conditions like heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Smokefree Norfolk provides free, evidence-based stop smoking support for adults in Norfolk, including one-to-one coaching, group sessions, digital self-service options, and access to nicotine replacement therapies or vape starter kits.
Healthy Fans, launched earlier in the year, was designed specifically for Norwich City supporters, encouraging them to make small, positive changes to improve their physical and mental health. Whether it’s working individually with supporters or connecting them with others, the programme provides free resources, workshop and support to inspire healthier lifestyles on matchdays and beyond.
Nick Hughes, Divisional Director of Reed Wellbeing, welcomed the partnership saying:
"We’re proud to be partnering with the Community Sports Foundation to support the Healthy Fans initiative. At Reed Wellbeing, we believe that health improvement should be accessible, engaging, and rooted in the communities we serve. By joining forces at Carrow Road, we’re excited to offer practical support - whether that’s through NHS Health Checks, Stop Smoking services, or simply having meaningful conversations that help people take the next step towards better health. Together, we’re helping Norwich City supporters make positive, lasting changes to their wellbeing."
Dan Payne, the Foundation’s Community Wellbeing Officer, added:
"Reed Wellbeing’s support is hugely important in helping us expand what Healthy Fans can offer. By combining our efforts on matchdays, we can reach more supporters with tailored advice and practical resources, giving them the best possible chance to make lasting lifestyle changes."
Reed Welling looks forward to working closely with The Foundation over the next year, to contribute to inspiring Norwich City supports to live healthier, happier lives and help build on the success of the Healthy Fans initiative.
